What TV Upfront Week Means for Ben Silverman

Upfront week has the entertainment industry in a state of excitement and nerves as everyone anxiously waits to hear what’s going on with major networks—like NBC, where Ben Silverman used to be a producer. It looks like the network’s fall lineup is going to be heavily skewed toward the female demographic, as several of its new series are comedies led by females. Among the pilots announced is “Up All Night,” which will feature Christina Applegate and DumbDumb’s Will Arnett as lead characters. While Ben Silverman no longer works at NBC, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any of his own news to release during upfront week.

His multimedia production company Electus sold a non-scripted series to Spike TV, entitled “The Sherrif.” The show will follow a prominent law enforcement official and his team as they clean the streets of criminals and fight crime using modern techniques and technology. “The Sheriff” will fit perfectly into Spike TV’s lineup, which includes several other non-scripted shows that feature real men in extreme situations, perfect for the network’s expanding audience of men between the ages of 35 and 49.
